What's Lassi?

Lassi is simply a wonderful and refreshing yoghurt smoothie, a coming together of lovely fruit and flavours with chilled yoghurt!

Why did we decide to set-up a food business?

We're big fans of great food and increasingly, interesting food, but more then that we wanted to do something which could impact the entire food chain, from production, processing to retail. We hope our business can set a standard on how, not only food businesses but all businesses can operate to benefit every component of the business - from producers, suppliers to manufacturers and retailers as well as consumers!

How did we get the initial idea?

It would be a bit cliched to say this, but it was literally sitting in Hyde Park on a summer's day in 2009 wondering why you couldn't get a decent lassi in the market. And then realising that lassi is a refreshing, healthy drink and considering how popular Indian cuisine is in the UK, why it wasn't more widely available!?

But having thought more about the need for a great tasting alternative to fruit smoothies and carbonated drinks in the form of a lassi, we also thought that we wanted to take on-the-go food to the next level, to work with interesting flavours and add a little ding in the food universe!

What will Made With Joy never do?

We'll never stop thinking about things, we'll never say 'never', we'll never put profit first, we'll never compromise on taste, and as soon as we stop having fun, we'll stop the business.

What is the most challenging part of giving up the day job and taking a leap? And the easiest to deal with?

Most challenging - ourselves, we're cynics!
